Rebecca and Elizabeth finally made it home this morning after six months of gallivanting around Europe and the Middle East. Despite the end of all that fun, they don't seem to be too unhappy to see us.

Now that they've been carrying those ten-ton weights on their backs for so long, they're ripped and ready for some mountain backpacking. At least I think so. They might not agree.

Yes, I am a terrible blogger, I admit it freely. This post is long overdue, but here it is.

These pictures are from the wonderful New Year's Eve murder mystery we did. I must say I was very relieved that I was not the killer. And that Italianish accent was hard. I never did catch on to it. The guns are fake, by the way, in case anyone wonders!

Since I don't have anything remarkable to say right now, but I haven't posted for a rather long time, I will take the easy solution a post a picture. And since this insane ball of fur is the most entertaining thing going on in my life right now, the picture might as well be of him.

Here he pulled the hose rack off the wall, at least I'm pretty sure he was the culprit, and made a nest out of the still neatly-piled hose.

My far-flung and fascinating travels

Ok, so maybe I exaggerated a bit. Or maybe a lot. My travels have not been nearly as far-flung as some people's lately, but Millcreek is pretty fascinating, right? Right?

Anyway, I was up there with a friend for my birthday recently, and let me tell you, the trail that starts across the road from the parking at the Elbow area (whatever the full name is) is a killer. I must be more out of shape than I thought. I was exhausted by the time we turned back.

But I must say the whole ordeal was worth it for the pictures I brought home. Millcreek is definately one of the more photogenic places in Utah, and there are plenty here.

I have to add that I did actually enjoy myself, despite all my whining. I'm just still feeling sore. :-)

Meet the new baby

Here is the most exciting thing in my life at the moment. Fergus is 2 1/2 months old, a border collie-heeler mix, possibly some lab as well. He was very quiet and scared when we first picked him out in PetsMart yesterday, and refused to walk with the leash, so we had to carry him out. He's a heavy little bugger by the way.

Once we got him home and he settled in with Shadow, he turned into a barrel of mischief, trying to bite everything in sight. We have to watch him carefully when he's in the house. So far he seems to be very intelligent, looking at us when we talk to him, and he's pretty much learned what no means. After being told no and shoved off few times, he sits on his rump and looks at you with a pouty expression. Very cute, and seriously like having a little kid around.

The next priority will be to teach him to respond to his name. That could get interesting, since we already have another dog. I'm not sure Shadow ever figured out that his name is just Shadow, not Domino as well. So I'm guessing Fergus will end up doing the same thing and always respond to both Fergus and Shadow.

Take note of his hazel eyes in the photos attatched. I don't think I've ever seen a dog with eyes that color before.

Hello and welcome to "A Certain Resemblance." If you're wondering what the significance of that name is, wonder no more. It means absolutely nothing. It just sounded deep.

In keeping with the radom nature of it's name, this blog will likely be very unfocused as well, including whatever I feel like saying at the moment. You can expect commentary, criticism, questions, answers (hopefully), journalism (in some form), travelogues and perhaps the occaisional poem or story. And all of this will probably come less frequently than I intend.

So there you have it. Anyone interested in, amused by or irritated at what I have to say is invited to join the conversation. Enjoy.
